Residents are advised to take extra care whilst increased volumes of traffic are experienced in the area and are asked to allow extra time for their journeys during the Open Golf event.
Residents are advised of various restrictions in place in Sandwich for the duration of the event. These include one-way systems, road closures and will be in place daily from 6am until 10pm. The only exception is numerous parking restrictions which prohibit parking at Any Time.
Resident of Sandwich and the Northernmost part of Deal will receive 2 Local Resident Permits per household; these were sent in the post early June 2011. A traffic letter was also included providing specific information on how to gain access to and from your property if you are affected by Open Golf routes or restrictions.
Restrictions will be in place during the event (12th - 17th July). All local residents are required to comply with the temporary restrictions in force and to follow directional signage in place during the event.

Temporary Traffic Restrictions
Thousands of spectators are expected to attend the championship throughout the week, with as many as 50,000 per day as the final match play approaches.
A multi-agency traffic plan will be in place during the event to enable the large volumes of visitors to get to and from the Golf course, whilst accommodating the needs of residents and businesses.
Please remember to plan additional time for any journeys, particularly during the peak hours of 7.00 - 11.00 am and 4.00 - 8.00 pm
